As a lover of shark movies, I can’t wait for this summer’s The Meg, starring Jason Statham. That said, there will never be a more iconic shark flick than Jaws, Steven Spielberg’s tale of adventure and horror on the high seas.
Of course, since Jaws is that well-known, any new shark movie will inevitably be compared to it. Knowing that the comparison can’t be avoided, the people behind The Meg have decided to make it themselves, via a cool new poster. Check it out below.
It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to see that the above poster is a clear parody/tribute to the classic original poster for Jaws, only this time, the Great White isn’t the biggest threat the person up top has to worry about.
As fun as I think The Meg looks though, I do wonder how anyone could possibly defeat something that gigantic, short of dropping a nuke on it from above. Of course, I haven’t read the acclaimed Steve Alten novel The Meg is based on, so maybe that explains things.
Directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure), The Meg stars Statham as a badass rescue diver enlisted to save an undersea crew. Other notable names in the cast include Rainn Wilson (The Office), Ruby Rose (John Wick: Chapter 2), and Cliff Curtis (Fear the Walking Dead).
