Prominently featuring Harold the Scarecrow (with special guest the Jangly Man), this trailer digs a little more into the meat of the film to explain how all the stories will weave together.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is adapted from the childhood trauma-inducing trilogy of books by Alvin Schwartz that featured terrifying illustrations by Stephen Gammell.
The monster designs that we can see in the trailer are startlingly close to Gammell’s original illustrations, so this film should provide both fun-filled nostalgia and new nightmare fuel for fans of the books.
The film follows a group of teens that band together to solve the mystery of macabre deaths in their small town. The ensemble cast includes Zoe Colletti (Annie), Austin Abrams (The Walking Dead), Michael Garza (Wayward Pines), Gabriel Rush (Moonrise Kingdom), Austin Zajur (Fist Fight), and Natalie Ganzhorn (The Stanley Dynamic).
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will hit theaters on August 9, 2019. You can check out the brand new trailer below!
