The 2019 rejuvenation of Pet Sematary – Stephen King’s classic tale of should-have-stayed-dead terror – has shifted its long-dormant bones to shake out some marketing material. The film recently dug up a set of “first look” photos, dropped a deliciously creepy new poster, and finally revealed a trailer.
Let’s enjoy this poster for a second, though. There’s something delectably primal about that buried pile of bones, and the classic King font on the film title is a wonderful touch.
Directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer (Starry Eyes) are at the helm of this new adaptation of Pet Sematary with stars John Lithgow, Jason Clarke, and Amy Seimetz as the ill-fated neighbors.
Any actual details about the film have been kept pretty quiet (until recently). That said – as with any upcoming Stephen King adaptation – it’s probably best to play those cards close to the chest until you’re ready. Horror fans tend to be quite emotionally invested in King’s work.
Now, at long last, a brand new trailer for Pet Sematary has popped out of the soil. This seems like a perfectly good time to get excited.
But you don’t have to take our word for it, have a look at the trailer and judge for yourself. And be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!
Pet Sematary will arrive in theaters on April 5, 2019.
