A lot of news came out of the Paramount+ announcements. There are a lot of shows and films dropping. A lot of great stuff. It turns out that both the new Paranormal Activity film being helmed by Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is going straight to the Paramount+ streaming service. The film is set to return to its found footage format along with an unexpected approach to a reboot.
Along with Paranormal Activity there is also a Pet Sematary film that is also heading to the streaming network. This time around the film will act as a prequel to the Stephen King book that has now been adapted twice into a film. Jeff Buhler who wrote the 2019 adaptation is also writing this origin story.
There is no official word past that, but we can expect that we see a bit more light shown onto a lot of other pets that were in the Sematary. For all those dead pets and dead humans laid to rest on the spoiled earth, there are surely ghastly tales for each.
Paranormal Activity is set for a March 4, 2022 release date. There is still no release date for the origin story for Pet Sematary but we will let you know as soon as we do.
Both films will be released via the Paramount+ streaming format.
