Black Mirror is coming back to Netflix, and it’s happening a lot sooner than you might have anticipated!

As revealed by Variety (and on Netflix’s social media accounts), Black Mirror season 4 will arrive on Netflix on December 29. This is perfect timing if you’ve got a holiday break, offering the best way to bridge the gap between family obligations and New Years celebrations.

Series creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones spoke to Variety, explaining that while the newest season will explore more genres, it maintains a heavy focus on changing technology and how it influences human behavior in an insidious way.

“This year we have almost deliberately exaggerated the differences between the episodes. ‘U.S.S. Callister‘ is a space romp. ‘Arkagel’ is an indie mother-daughter relationship drama. ‘Crocodile’ is a bleak, dark, paranoid, techno-noir thriller. ‘Hang the DJ’ is a rom-com…ish – it’s playful. ‘Metalhead’ is really nasty, brutal, survival-horror. And then you have ‘Black Museum,’ which is Stephen King-esque campfire horror tale telling.”

In preparation for the new season, Netflix has released episode trailers for episodes Arkangel (directed by the legendary Jodie Foster), U.S.S Callister, Metalhead, Hang the DJ, and Black Museum.
