Netflix has finally set a premiere date for Ratched, an origin story for the famed diabolical nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. According to Deadline, the series will drop on the streaming platform on September 18, 2020.

Created by Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) and Ian Brennan (Hollywood), the show is set in the mid-20th century in Northern California where Mildred Ratched–played by Murphy’s frequent collaborator Sarah Paulson–finds work as a nurse in a psychiatric hospital. The show will chronicle the infamous character’s path to becoming head nurse.

The series comes with an all-star cast including Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City), Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct), Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story), Charlie Carver (Teen Wolf), Amanda Plummer (Pulp Fiction), Vincent D’Onofrio (Sinister), Sophie Okonedo (The Secret Life of Bees) and Judy Davis (Naked Lunch).

It will be interesting to see how this origin story plays out, and how Paulson will chart the course of becoming the cold-blooded, sadistic Nurse Ratched that we all remember from Louis Fletcher’s bone-chilling performance in the 1975 film opposite Jack Nicholson. Fletcher won an Oscar for the role for Best Leading Actress.

Take a look at the key art and those images below and let us know in the comments if you’ll be watching Ratched in September!
