Netflix Pauses Production on ‘Stranger Things 4’ Due to Coronavirus

Starting Monday, March 16, Netflix will suspend production on numerous projects being filmed in the US and Canada in order to help stop the spread of COVID-19, more commonly referred to as Coronavirus. One of the affected projects is Stranger Things 4, which is currently in production.

The halt is set to go on for the next two weeks. However, that can easily change depending on how well we are able to contain the virus. Lucifer is also on hold due to Coronavirus. There are multiple other projects, but the only two of interest in the horror genre that we currently know of are the ones listed here.

Projects being filmed outside of North America will be decided on a case-to-case basis. There’s no word on what’s going on with season 2 of The Witcher, which is being filmed outside the territory. Coronavirus could very well stop production on that for the time being as well.

Recently, the Duffer Brothers had this to say about the upcoming season:

“We’re excited to officially confirm that production on Stranger Things 4 is now underway — and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper! Although it’s not all good news for our “American”; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human…and other. Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything….”

Thanks to Deadline for the information.

We’re hoping that all of you stay healthy and safe during the Coronavirus pandemic. Wash your hands and be smart!
