Netflix announced today that it will increase the number of episodes for the fifth and final season of Lucifer from the previously ordered 10 to a total of 16 according to Entertainment Weekly.

The streaming platform picked up the fan-favorite series after it was unexpectedly cancelled on Fox after the third season and released the news of the final season’s extension via Twitter this morning.

The series follows the crime-solving efforts of Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and her unlikely partner, club-owner Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) aka the charming devil himself who was tired of ruling Hell and headed to Los Angeles to make a new start.

Along the way, they’ve met demons, angels, Cain, Eve, and even Lucifer’s mother, the Goddess of Creation.

Netflix did not explain why the final season will be extended but no doubt fans of Lucifer or the Lucifans as they’ve come to be known on social media will be there for every single moment leading up to its conclusion.

And in the meantime, series co-star Lesley-Ann Brandt who plays everyone’s favorite demon/bounty hunter Mazikeen has the question all of us need answered.

There is no official release date for the final season as of yet, but iHorror will keep you posted on all the details as they become available!
