V-Wars, based on the novels by Jonathan Maberry, is headed to Netflix next month and the first action-packed trailer dropped today.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the 10-episode series stars Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries) stars as Dr. Luther Swann who finds himself at the center of a disastrous epidemic that is turning people, including his best friend Michael (Adrian Holmes), into vampires. As Luther searches for a cure, Michael will rise through the ranks to become the vampiric leader.

Jacky Lai (Shadowhunters), Peter Outerbridge (Saw VI), and Kimberly-Sue Murray (The Lizzie Borden Chronicles) also star in the series, and if you look very closely, you’ll also spot Nikki Reed from The Twilight Saga in the trailer. She also happens to be married to Somerhalder.

Somerhalder rose to fame in Lost in the early 2000s, but it was his role as immortal Damon Salvatore on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries that cemented his place in pop-culture history. It will be interesting to see him play the other side of the vampire war.

William Laurin (Aftermath) and Glenn Davis (The Pinkertons) serve as showrunners for V-Wars which is set to debut on December 5, 2019. Will you be watching? Let us know in the comments and check out that trailer below!
