Earlier this week we reported on a man’s horror-inspired holiday yard display, which has left neighbors upset and outraged. A similar story just broke over in Ohio, where another man’s attempt to celebrate Christmas in his own way has drawn the ire of locals…
As reported by FOX 19, Deer Park, Ohio’s Jasen Dixon hand-crafted a nativity scene in his front yard earlier this month, using props from his Halloween haunted attraction ’13 Rooms of Doom.’ In his version of the classic scene, the Three Wise Men are skeletal zombies, while the baby Jesus is a white-eyed demon.
“I wanted a nativity scene and I worked with what I had,” insists Dixon, who sees nothing wrong with his artistic interpretation. “The neighbors don’t like it. My father hates it and anything bad that happens, he blames it on that. On the average we probably get 30 or 40 cars stop and taking pictures, getting out with their camera. People that follow zombie movies and stuff like that love it.”
Officials in Deer Park have given Dixon a matter of days to remove the display, insisting that it’s a zoning issue. The display takes up too much space on his front yard, they say, and it needs to go.
“I’ve lived here for 15 years and I’ve never had a violation of any kind,” Dixon told. “It’s a holiday decoration. I know if it was a real pretty nativity scene they wouldn’t be saying anything.”
At the time of writing this, Dixon hasn’t yet decided if he’s going to follow the orders or toss them in the trash. He’s been given until December 26th to dismantle his twisted manger, which is likely when he’d be taking it down anyway.
