Last night, the Alamo Drafthouse’s New York City location held a special screening of the original Nightmare on Elm Street, in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary. Yep, our burnt-up pal Freddy Krueger turns the ripe old age of 30 this year, and toy company NECA was on hand at the event, to celebrate the dream demon’s induction into the dirty thirties club.

At the screening, they unveiled the very first look at an upcoming 30th anniversary edition ‘Ultimate’ Freddy action figure (above), which is based on Krueger’s look in his very first outing. The 7″ figure features a brand new head sculpt, two alternate heads and fully articulated legs, and includes the infamous ‘tongue phone’ and even Tina’s skinned face. He’ll be housed in deluxe packaging – which we haven’t yet been provided with an image of – and is set for release in September of this year.

NECA had previously released a Part 1 Freddy in Series One of their ever-growing Elm Street line, and just last year they put out a retro-style Freddy figure, which was also based on his look in the original film. This ‘Ultimate Edition’ certainly lives up to its name, and is perhaps the best Freddy figure us toy collectors have ever been gifted with. Agree? Disagree? Comment below with your thoughts!
