The world met a brand new horror icon ten years ago in director Scott Glosserman’s Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, which will forever be one of the most brilliant deconstructions of the horror genre. For years, Glosserman has been trying to get a sequel off the ground, attempting to crowd-fund Before the Mask: The Return of Leslie Vernon a few years back, but to date, the project remains dead in the water.

Or does it…?

Speaking with Morbid Much, actor Nathan “Leslie Vernon” Baesel just provided a glimmer of hope.

The script is good. Really good,” Baesel told website owner Nick Meece. “It plays on conventions of prequels/sequels as you’d expect but the vehicle of the story is really clever, even more so than BTM. B4TM is closer now than it’s ever been. I hope to have more word on that soon so keep hanging in there. It’ll be worth it.”

Yes, you read that right. Closer now than it’s ever been!

In Behind the Mask

The next great psycho horror slasher has given a documentary crew exclusive access to his life as he plans his reign of terror over the sleepy town of Glen Echo.
