With the upcoming It, Castle Rock, and The Dark Tower, Stephen King – as usual – is still the king of source material. We’ve already had a movie of The Mist, but it looks like the novella is getting the series treatment thanks to Spike TV.
It’s worth noting that this is credited as “from a story by Stephen King”, meaning there will likely be some creative liberties taken in order to expand it into a series. In this case, it looks like those creative liberties extend to an alteration in how the aforementioned mist affects people. It “screws with your mind”. This time, it’s personal.
If we can highlight the “there’s something in the mist” quote from the trailer, it’s entirely possible that there will be some awesome grabby monsters as well (we can damn well hope so), but of course, take that with a grain of salt. Personally, I’m a bit curious as to how this new psychological spin will work. Hopefully it’s “in addition to” and not “instead of”. Don’t take away my giant grabby monsters!
“The Mist” tells the story of a foreboding mist that arrives in one small town ushering in a terrifying new reality for its residents, putting their humanity to the test. What will people do to survive when blinded by fear?
The Mist premieres June 22. Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments!
