If there’s any issue I have with McFarlane’s line of Walking Dead toys – which are based on both the comic series and TV show – it’s that they’re just a tad bit too small, measuring approximately 5″ tall. Thankfully, the company has begun giving the show’s most popular characters the Deluxe Edition treatment, launching the super-sized spin-off line with a 10″ figure of Daryl Dixon, wielding his beloved crossbow and ready to fire an arrow into the mushy head of a walker.
Later this year, Rick Grimes is also getting a size upgrade, and we’ve just scored the first image of the upcoming figure.
Based on the iconic poster art for the show’s third season, Grimes measures 10″ tall and includes both a pistol and a rifle, with an alternate arm allowing him to either point the pistol at impending danger or hold the rifle over his shoulder. The figure features the exact likeness of the character, taken from a full-body 3D scan of star Andrew Lincoln. It’s set for release in October, and can currently be pre-ordered over on Clark Toys, for $34.99.
If you’re asking me, past Rick Grimes figures from McFarlane haven’t exactly been all that impressive, as the small size of the toys doesn’t allow for much head sculpt detail. The increased size of these 10″ offerings really allows the McFarlane team to properly depict the characters from the show, giving them the toy shelf treatment that they deserve. More like this, please!
On a related note, check out a sneak peek at Series 6 of McFarlane’s Walking Dead TV line, which is also due out this coming October.
