Writer/director Jaysen Buterin and Mad Ones Films is turning a trope on its head for their new film Kill Giggles.
The film, the first full-length feature from Buterin who has a whole host of internationally recognized short films in his portfolio, centers on Tommy De Santos (Michael Ray Williams). Tommy is a man on a mission to rid the world of the greatest evil of which he can conceive.
Let’s face facts. We’ve seen so many killer clown movies that it’s maybe time someone turned them from predator to prey. Tommy isn’t satisfied to only kill a random clown here and there, however. They all must go, and he won’t stop until every last greasepaint-smeared menace is vanquished, including Giggles, the king of the clowns.
Williams will star along side genre icons like Judith O’Dea (Night of the Living Dead), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Andre Gower (Monster Squad), and Ryan Lambert (Monster Squad).
Kill Giggles is set to begin filming next Summer, and as time runs out for the clowns of the world, the production team has begun fundraising in a way that’s fresh and exciting.
Instead of the usual Kickstarter level up perks, Buterin and Mad Ones Films is offering fans of the genre a chance to actually invest in the film and become a co-owner of the property. If the film makes money, then so do you, and the cost of investment is much lower than you’d ever expect!
It’s a unique approach to crowdfunding for sure, and you can read all the details and the fine print on their official page at StartEngine.com.
In the meantime, check out the team’s two teasers below. Coulrophobics beware, they are clown-centric.
