It’s been over a year since we’ve heard anything about Polaroid, the cursed camera horror film, which found itself in limbo in the wake of the Weinstein Company scandal and collapse.
The film, which has an undeniable The Ring vibe to it, has been distributed overseas but a stateside release, though rumored multiple times has never come to fruition…until now.
According to Dread Central, Polaroid will finally be released in select theaters and on VOD on September 17, 2019. The news was accompanied by a brand new trailer which you can see below.
Polaroid tells the story of Bird Fitcher (Kathryn Prescott), a high school loner who finds a classic Polaroid camera. She’s instantly taken by the contraption until she realizes that the subjects of her pictures soon meet untimely ends.
The film was written by Blair Butler (Slasher School) and directed by Lars Klevberg (Child’s Play 2019) based on a short film he created under the same title and co-stars genre legend Mitch Pileggi (Shocker, The X-Files) and the extraordinarily talented creature/character actor Javier Botet (Insidious: The Last Key).
Polaroid will be distributed by Vertical Entertainment. It was produced by Dimension Films and Eldorado Film.
