The atmospheric side-scrolling puzzle game ‘Little Nightmares’ has its first DLC this week for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. If you’re not familiar with the game yet, go back and read our review of the main game here on iHorror, it’s well worth the time.

The DLC, one of three planned and titled, “The Depths” was released on July 7th. In it, instead of the yellow-coated child known as ‘Six’, you instead play a character called only the Runaway Kid. The basic idea, though, remains the same. You’re trapped deep in the bottom of the underwater prison known as ‘The Maw’ and you have to work your way through the 2.5D levels, figuring out the puzzles that open doors and trigger escape routes so you can progress.

This side story continues the terrifyingly atmospheric and well-crafted levels and puzzles, while offering new and challenging areas.

Why Granny, what long, sharp nails you have.

While there aren’t guards as such, you still have to escape the clutches of The Janitor from the main game, and the DLC introduces The Granny, a creature Bandai Namco describes as “a creature abandoned to decay that will let no-one go.” Sound like someone you know?

It’s worth pointing out, the DLC for Little Nightmares is a package deal. $9.99 also the DLC The Hideaway, planned for release in November, and a third, as yet unnamed DLC slated for January of 2018 which continue the story that starts with The Depths.

The main game is fairly short, but worth it’s price, and the DLC just adds to it, expanding on what we’re learning about the world The Maw exists in. I’ve had a lot of fun with the game so far, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more of this dark place and the story behind it.
