Lin Shaye, star of the upcoming Insidious: The Last Key, has officially joined the cast of Ashley Hamilton’s new supernatural thriller Gothic Harvest according to Deadline Hollywood. The film which previously announced casting Bill Moseley and Sofia Mattsson, was written by Chris Kobin who will also produce the film alongside Harvey Lowry and Jeff Mullins.
The announcement comes on the heels of the actress receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from CineAsia in Hong Kong.
Set in New Orleans, Gothic Harvest centers on four co-eds on Spring Break at Mardi Gras. When they unknowingly step into a spell cast by the famed voodoo queen Marie Laveau. The spell keeps a wealthy family immortal so long as they kidnap one girl each year from the famed New Orleans celebration.
Shaye, who has been rightfully labeled the Godmother of Horror, previously starred alongside Moseley in 2010’s 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams, a sequel to 2001 Maniacs which starred Shaye and Robert Englund. There is no word yet on the roles the two will be playing in the film.
Director Ashley Hamilton will also appear in the film as a yet unnamed character. The film will mark his directorial debut after appearing in films like Iron Man 3, Beethoven’s 2nd, and the TV series “Sunset Beach”.
