‘Last Action Hero’ is Coming to Beautiful Action-Packed 4k UHD Blu-Ray

Last Action

Arguably the biggest Arnold Schwarzenegger action flick that exists is, Last Action Hero. When I say, biggest, I’m not referring to Arnie’s box office money or the film’s success. I’m referring to the actual action and the persona that Arnie brought to the screen. Last Action Hero was huge in that regard and now, that enormous bit is coming to 4K UHD blu-ray.

Last Action Hero made the cut back in 2019 when Sony Pictures Entertainment took a poll to see what films their fans would like to see formatted to 4K. Well, Last Action Hero won with some of the largest votes.

Who can blame em though. Last Action Hero although, a failed box office film is still a great film. I mean, I was young enough to be a huge Schwarzenegger fan and to see this movie as a kid and lose my mind over how awesome it was. I was too young to get any of the satire or the parody bits. I enjoyed it on an up and up level. And maybe that helped. Now, of course I see what the film is trying to do and the big chances Schwarzenegger was taking at the time. But, ingeniously so! He didn’t have to take those chances, but he loved this screenplay and the satire. He loved making fun of his big persona. The film is a masterpiece and it does belong on 4K.

The official synopsis for Last Action Hero goes like this:

Young Danny Madigan (Austin O’Brien) is a lonely 11-year-old boy who escapes from his bleak reality by watching the action adventure movies of his favorite film character, Jack Slater (Schwarzenegger). When his best friend, Nick the projectionist, gives him a special ticket to the new Slater film, Danny is magically transported into Jack’s world, where the good guys always win. Danny becomes his helper as Jack battles a trio of nefarious bad guys, Benedict (Charles Dance), Vivaldi (Anthony Quinn) and The Ripper (Tom Noonan). But things get out of hand when Benedict steals Danny’s magic ticket stub and transports himself into the real world, where crime can, and often does, pay. Jack and Danny must leave fictional Los Angeles for real-life New York and battle the villains without the aid of movie magic or stuntmen.
