Well, it’s official; Silent Hills which was to be directed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro and featuring Norman Reedus is cancelled. Konami has issued the following statement:
“Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued”.
We knew something was up when the title came into question yesterday (read it here), given Hideo Kojima’s messy breakup with Konami, but we didn’t want to assume to worst. Unfortunately, that’s what happens sometimes. As a huge fan of the Silent Hill series, the last few entries were disappointing and this seemed like it would bring the franchise back around to where it needed to be and make it truly frightening once again. The P.T. demo scared the shit out of me and had me hyped, but when developers don’t get along, it’s the fans who will most likely be suffering the most.
