First Carrie, then Silence of the Lambs,; It seems like everyone is getting a Broadway show these days, but probably none as big as King Kong.
Yes, you read that right, King Kong is headed to the stage in late 2018 Deadline.com confirms, and it will be a musical like no other.
Tickets are already on sale in what is expected to be a gargantuan hit.
Written by Jack Thorne with a score by Marius de Vries, this massive production will use a mixture of robotics, puppeteers and live action to tell the classic story of Beauty and her Beast.
Here’s the synopsis for those of you who don’t already know the story:
“King Kong follows a young actress and a maverick filmmaker as they voyage from the bustling streets of 1930s New York to an uncharted island to capture the greatest wonder the world has ever seen. At the center of this 21st century reimagining: a 20-foot-tall, 2,000-pound gorilla brought to life by a team of artists and technicians.”
No casting announcements have been made, and the show will premiere on November 8, 2018.
