Katrina Bowden (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) may be most famous for her portrayal of Cerie on Tina Fey’s 30 Rock, but she’s gearing up for something far more serious and deadly in Great White.
The new shark thriller written by Michael Boughen (The Loved Ones) and directed by Martin Wilson in his feature debut is based on true events.
Bowden will play Kaz Fellows who, along with her boyfriend Charlie Brody (Aaron Jakubenko), operates a seaplane taking passengers out on short tourist excursions. Stranded miles from shore, they soon find themselves hunted by two great white sharks.
Tim Kano (Neighbors: Road Trip), Kimie Tsukakoshi (The Bureau of Magical Things), and Te Kohe Tuhaka (The Dead Lands) will co-star in the film.
“I am so excited to be back in Australia to shoot this film,” Bowden told Deadline. “It has been nine years since my last visit and this time around I am really getting familiar with beautiful Queensland. I feel very lucky to get the chance to work in Australia, especially on a film project I love so much that is unlike others I have done before. It is going to be a very fun adventure.”
Here at iHorror, we love a good shark flick, and this one definitely has potential.
Great White is scheduled for release in 2021.
