It was just a couple of weeks ago that we announced that Friday the 13th alum Deborah Voorhees was developing a film called 13 Fanboy which would re-assemble other former franchise alumni in a brand new story about a dangerous fan stalking them. This week, the project got that much sweeter with the announcement that Kane Hodder would be joining the cast.

13 Fanboy was borne from messages that Voorhees received over the years from fans of the slasher franchise.

“Horror fans are the best,” she said, “but every once in a while, you get someone who feels scary. I’ve received texts saying ‘He’s watching you right now’ or ‘wouldn’t it be cool if you were killed in the way that you were in the film?’”

She began to question what these “fans” meant. Were they serious? Were they actual threats or simply internet trolls with too much time on their hands?

Regardless of their motivations, they sent chills down her spine and she began to write along with Joel Paul Resig. As we’d previously announced, Thom Matthews (Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI), Judie Aronson (Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter), and Ron Sloan (Friday the 13th: A New Beginning) among others had already signed to be involved in the film.

No doubt, the addition of Kane Hodder will raise the stakes on the new project. No actor has been more associated with the franchise than him, and while we have no details about what exactly his involvement will entail, it certainly makes us more excited to see it!
