If you’re a horror fan, you really should subscribe to Shudder. I know that sounds like a commercial, but trust me, I’m just someone who loves instant access to lots of horror films and TV shows, and have myself been a subscriber for several years now.
One of the greatest things about Shudder is that they gave horror host Joe Bob Briggs a platform again, nearly two decades after he signed off as host of TNT’s MonsterVision, a late night movie block that was must-see TV prior to the current streaming age.
Briggs of course debuted on Shudder via what was billed as a one-off 24-hour movie marathon, but the reaction was so massively positive that he was brought back to host further marathons, and then a weekly series that will return for season 2 in 2020.
It turns out that we won’t have to wait that long to see Joe Bob Briggs reveal more drive-in totals though, as he’ll return to Shudder in October for a mini-marathon dubbed the “Halloween Hootenanny.” As usual, the films aren’t being revealed in advance.
The “Halloween Hootenanny” streams October 25th at 9pm on Shudder, and the trailer can be seen below. Briggs seems to be heavily implying he’ll screen the original Halloween, but that could be a misdirect. I can’t wait to see him drop more knowledge.
