Deadline is reporting big casting news for the upcoming Chucky series from franchise creator Don Mancini and Syfy.
Franchise favorite, Jennifer Tilly is set to reprise her role of Tiffany Valentine in some capacity on the series. Meanwhile Devon Sawa who shot to fame in Final Destination will also take on a recurring role, though details about his character are currently being kept under wraps.
The Chucky series moves the action to the suburbs. When a vintage Chucky doll shows up in a yard sale, a small town’s peace begins to unravel as a series of murders exposes the town’s dirty little secrets. The series promises a deeper dive into Charles Lee Ray aka Chucky’s past that will reveal more about the character’s backstory and how he became the monster he we know him as today.
In addition to Tilly and Sawa, Syfy announced casting of four additional roles.
Zackary Arthur (Transparent) will play Jake Webber, a loner kid who’s dealing with the emotional fallout of his mother’s death. Teo Briones will play Jake’s cousin, Junior Webber, and over-achieving jock.
Alyvia Alyn Lind (Overboard) is Lexy Taylor, the school’s queen bee and Junior’s girlfriend who bullies Jake mercilessly, and Björgvin Arnarson (The Seventh Day) plays Devon Lopez, a true-crime junkie boy-next-door type who is obsessively trying to figure out what is happening to their town.
Casting news leads to filming news, and we can’t wait to see Chucky come to life in this new iteration with Mancini at the helm. iHorror will keep you posted on all the latest news as it becomes available.
