With so many different action figures of all the big horror icons out there, it can be hard to determine which are the best. But NECA recently came up with a solution to that problem, blowing all past releases away with their ‘Ultimate Edition’ toys of monsters like Freddy Krueger and Leatherface.
This year, Jason Voorhees gets the ultimate upgrade.
Fans of the Friday the 13th franchise’s sixth installment, Jason Lives, will be happy to see that the Ultimate Voorhees figure is based on the big guy’s appearance in that film, which I personally consider to be the last truly great installment in the original series. Part 6 celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
Accurately described as “the definitive collector’s version of Jason as he appeared in the 1986 film,” NECA’s Ultimate Jason Voorhees toy measures 7″ tall, featuring a removable hockey mask and over 25 points of articulation. Underneath the mask is a gruesome, freshly unearthed new head sculpt.
The new figure is loaded with accessories, including a machete and a knife that both fit into sheaths on his belt, the fence post that reanimated Jason in the film, and his tombstone. It will be packaged in a collector-friendly Deluxe 30th Anniversary window box, paying tribute to the film’s birthday.
