There were a ton of cartoons in the 80s and early 90s strangely, based on r-rated films. A lot of them had no real business being cartoons for kids. Don’t get me wrong, I love them all and watched them religiously. But, to look back at Toxic Crusaders and its Troma source material is a little crazy. Frank’s Kid created an impossibly cool throwback to that era and mood with a perfect faux intro for a Friday the 13th based cartoon titled, Jason and Friends.
Cartoons based on R-rated films like Rambo, Robocop and Police Academy made bizarre choices for Saturday morning cartoons. I also want to repeat that, I loved them all and collected their respective toy lines.
Frank’s Kid did this hilarious and ultimately cool video that sees Jason going on adventure at Camp Crystal Lake and beyond. When I say “beyond” I’m not joking. The video features Jason and his mom’s decapitated head soaring into outer space and even sees Jason riding a horse with an Indiana Jones looking fedora.
In a perfect world this cartoon would be a real thing. Unfortunately, we are living on the darkest timeline. It is fantastic that we are able to enjoy this though. Head over to Frank’s Kids Facebook and Instagram in order to show them some love for this great video.
