As a fan, I’m still not entirely sure whether to be excited about the prospect of another Terminator film. Like most people, I love the first two entries directed by James Cameron, but have quite varied opinions of the sequels.
Terminator 3 is a pretty fun little action flick, but it loses goodwill by retconning parts of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Terminator: Salvation was just plain bad as was most of Terminator: Genisys, which still isn’t a word.
Of course, the big hook to draw fans in for Terminator 6 – as it’s been referred by fans for lack of an actual title – is the return of creator Cameron as a producer. If anyone can right the Terminator ship, it’s presumably him.
Now, it finally looks like Terminator 6 has a name, at least for the time being. During a recent interview with Yahoo, Cameron revealed that the current working title for Terminator 6 is in fact Terminator: Dark Fate.
That’s obviously meant to reference the “no fate but what we make” line that Kyle Reese first tells Sarah Connor, and she later relays to her son John. Of course, John told Kyle in the first place, because time travel is weird.
Terminator: Dark Fate hits theaters on November 1st, 2019. Here’s hoping it’s finally a worthy sequel to T2, as the Terminator franchise has been in a state of disrepair for way too long. If nothing else, it’ll probably top Genisys.
