Well, that didn’t take long. It appears the Twitter post from over the weekend was indeed a screenshot from the Morbius teaser trailer.
The synopsis for Morbius goes like this:
“One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.”
Very excited about two things in the trailer. One Doctor Who’s Matt Smith showing up and of course the big zinger at the end in the form of Michael Keaton’s Vulture returning to the Spidey-Verse.
Morbius now joins Venom in the expanded universe. It is yet to be seen how the whole Sony and Marvel thing will play out, but if everyone plays nice this could be a great crossover turnout.
Morbius first appeared in Spider-Man #101 back in ’71. The character quickly became a fan fave and one of Spidey’s big bads, eventually spinning off into his own solo run.
