Whether you loved the movie or you didn’t feel it lived up to the hype, It Follows is nevertheless this year’s biggest horror success story, and it’s hard not to be happy for writer/director David Robert Mitchell. One successful project often means that a filmmaker gets to continue working, and Mitchell’s plate is filling up quickly.
Deadline reports today that Mitchell is making his first foray into TV with Mr. Postman, a crime series he is developing with Universal Cable Productions and Benderspink. He will both direct and executive produce the show.
Mr. Postman follows a mailman who investigates the dark mysteries within his all-American town after a horrific event occurs on his own street.
“David is a true artist with incredible vision that I believe will be a game changer in storytelling both in television and film,” said Dawn Olmstead, Executive Vice President, Development at UCP. “We are very excited to take out ‘Mr. Postman,’ his first TV project. It’s like nothing else out there.”
It’s worth noting that UCP is the same company that has just teamed with Wes Craven, together developing new horror series’ The People Under the Stairs and We Are All Completely Fine.
