Can you feel it? No, not ridiculous levels of heat, although that’s obviously there too, since it’s summer after all. After summer comes fall, and the main event of fall 2019 for horror fans is Stephen King-based sequel IT: Chapter Two, opening on September 6th.
The first IT movie of course took the world by storm back in 2017, making an obscene amount of money, earning mostly positive reviews from critics, and igniting a revival of Hollywood’s taste for adapting the works of legendary author Stephen King.
While plot specifics for IT: Chapter Two are still vague – after all, the first movie differed from King’s book in myriad ways – we do at least know that the basic setup remains intact. The adult Losers’ Club all heads back to Derry for a rematch with Pennywise.
The first IT ran 2 hours and 15 minutes, quite long for a horror flick. Now, director Andy Muschietti tells Digital Spy that the sequel is even more epic, currently clocking in at a meaty 2 hours and 45 minutes. That’s nearly as long as Avengers: Endgame.
Amusingly, Muschietti says his first edit of IT: Chapter Two was a whopping four hours long. Hopefully we get to see some of that cut material on the Blu-Ray. Encouragingly, Muschietti also says that everyone he’s screened the film for has zero complaints.
