An unnamed family at an Irish funeral got an unexpected surprise as they were laying the family patriarch to rest at their local cemetery.

In the video, which was posted to Reddit and made its way to YouTube and international news outlets this morning, you can clearly see the mourners gathered at the graveside service as the gentleman’s coffin was lowered into the ground.

Recorded music begins to play, then goes quiet, and they suddenly hear the dead man’s voice call out, “Hello?”

They clearly don’t know what to think at first, but tears give way to laughter as they realize that this was the man’s own hilarious way of saying good-bye.

In the full video below, you can hear the sounds of knocking and the man’s demands to be let out of the coffin.

“Where the f*ck am I?” he asks. “Let me out, it’s f*cking dark in here! Is that that priest I hear?”

Finally, one of the mourners turns the camera down to face the coffin where we continue to hear the man cracking jokes and even singing a little Neil Diamond as his family completely loses it laughing at the old man’s last joke.

I don’t know about you, but suddenly I have ideas for my own eventual wake and funeral! It’s definitely an Irish funeral the world will never forget. Check out the full video below, and let us know what you think in the comments!
