In Search of the Sanderson Sisters: A Hocus Pocus Hulaween Takeover is coming soon, and fans of the 90s Halloween classic will not want to miss this one-hour special benefitting the New York Restoration Project!
Hosted by the Mistress of the Dark herself, Elvira, the show will bring together the entire original cast of the film including Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker as the wicked witches themselves. The film’s co-star and quintessential character actor Doug Jones took to Facebook today to post about the event.
Along for the ride are special guest stars including Glenn Close, Billy Crystal, Jamie Lee Curtis, John Debney, Samantha Diaz, Harry Guinness, Todrick Hall, Jennifer Hudson, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Michael Kors, Adam Lambert, George Lopez, Alex Moffat, Vinessa Shaw, Martin Short, Sarah Silverman, John Stamos, Meryl Streep, Kenan Thompson, Sophie von Haselberg, and other surprise guests.
Hocus Pocus debuted in 1993 and while its initial box office numbers were not all together impressive, the film quickly garnered a cult following that remains loyal 27 years later.
In the film Midler, Najimy, and Parker play three witch sisters on a quest for immortality when they’re hanged by villagers in old Salem. Flash forward 300 years, when a teenage virgin named Max (Omri Katz) lights up the mysterious Black Flame Candle to impress a girl named Allison (Vinessa Shaw) unwittingly unleashing the witches upon Salem once more.
