Top 10 Death Scenes from the Nightmare On Elm Street Franchise

November 9th, 1984 is a date that lives in infamy for the horror heads of the world. This day, 30 years ago, we were first introduced to Springfield’s slasher and the son of a hundred maniacs. Freddy Krueger. The brainchild of Wes Craven, the basis of the film was inspired by several newspaper articles printed in the LA times in the 1970s on a group of Khmer refugees, who, after fleeing to the United States from the results of American bombing in Cambodia, were suffering from disturbing nightmares, after which they refused to sleep. Some of the men died in their sleep soon after. Medical authorities called the phenomenon Asian Death Syndrome. By Craven’s account, his own childhood experiences led to the naming of Freddy Krueger. He had been bullied at school by a child named Fred Krueger, thus, giving our villain a name that will live forever as horror legend. We at iHorror have an indisputable love for Robert Englund and all that he has given us in the role of this fan-fucken-tastic horror icon. And to celebrate, we give you Freddy’s 10 best slashes from the franchise. And in case anyone is wondering, which I hope not, the remake does not make an appearance anywhere in this article. Nope. And no.

10. Spencer Trips Out

Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare

This death scene had so many awesome elements, how could I not include it? Video games, Iron Butterfly, Breckin Meyer, the glorious NES power glove and a cameo by Johnny Depp getting smashed by a frying pan. Sure it’s a little cheesy.. But in the end, who gives a shit? Everything I just said makes up for it.

9. The Need For Speed

Nightmare On Elm Street: The Dream Child

Now, I always thought this was an epic death scene. For those who don’t know, this clip was originally so horrifying it had to be censored. And was absolutely butchered by the MPAA. Therefore leaving most of the gore on the cutting room floor. But here I give the UNCUT version of Dan’s death. It is stunning. And THIS deserves a spot on the list.

8. How’s This For A Wet Dream?

Nightmare On Elm Street: The Dream Master

I have always loved this scene. Poor Joey. Always knew those wanker dreams would soon be his demise. Sing it Billy Idol.

7. Let’s Get High

Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

In Taryn’s dreams’ she’s beautiful.. and bad. And also very ignorant to think she was going to punk out Freddy with a simple switch blade. Tsk.. Tsk.

6. Roach Motel

A Nightmare On Elm Street: The Dream Master

When in one scene of Dream Master, it’s revealed that fearless Debbie is afraid of bugs, Krueger uses that to his advantage and turns her into a roach. Fantastic.

5. Skin The Cat

Wes Cravens New Nightmare

Poor Julie. Never saw it coming. Very reminiscent to Tina’s death in the original.

4. Puppet Master

Nightmare On Elm Street: Dream Warriors

Uhh.. Just. No. Ouch. I really think this guy had among the worst of deaths in the entire franchise. “That bastard murdered him!”

3. Welcome To Prime Time Bitch

Nightmare On Elm Street: Dream Warriors

Jennifer tried so desperately to stay awake after what happened to fellow Westin Hills patient Phillip. Those self cigarette mutilation burns weren’t enough honey.

2. This Is God

A Nightmare On Elm Street

The first death that started it all in the franchise. Executed so brilliantly. It really is just horrifying to watch her get slaughtered. As Tina’s boyfriend Rod stares in horror; It’s a visually amazing sequence, and is topped off when Tina’s body falls, bloody as hell, giving us an all bets off feeling in the movie.

1. GLEN! GLEEEEEEN!

A Nightmare On Elm Street

Well.. What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this. I mean.. It’s just fantastic in every aspect imaginable. As Nancy goes crazy from across the street, Johnny Depp (in his first role ever) get’s sucked into the bed and comes out a bloody mess. Most definitely one of the best horror death scenes not only in the franchise, but in the entire genre. Hat’s off to you Glen. Morality really does suck.

There you have it… what I consider to be Freddy Krueger’s 10 best kills. Do you agree? In case you don’t.. Here’s my response to you. Pleasant dreams!

Arcadian Movie Trailer

The Motion Picture Association (MPA) has given this film an “R” rating for its “bloody images,” hinting at the visceral and intense experience awaiting viewers. The film draws inspiration from acclaimed horror benchmarks like “A Quiet Place,” weaving a post-apocalyptic tale of a father and his two sons navigating a desolate world. Following a catastrophic event that depopulates the planet, the family faces the dual challenge of surviving their dystopian environment and eluding mysterious nocturnal creatures.

Joining Nicolas Cage in this harrowing journey are Jaeden Martell, known for his role in “IT” (2017), Maxwell Jenkins from “Lost in Space,” and Sadie Soverall, featured in “Fate: The Winx Saga.” Directed by Ben Brewer (“The Trust”) and penned by Mike Nilon (“Braven”), “Arcadian” promises a unique blend of poignant storytelling and electrifying survival horror.

‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3’ Is a Go with Enhanced Budget and New Characters

Winnie the Pooh 3

Wow, they’re churning things out fast! The upcoming sequel “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3” is officially moving forward, promising an expanded narrative with a larger budget and the introduction of beloved characters from A.A. Milne’s original tales. As confirmed by Variety, the third installment in the horror franchise will welcome Rabbit, the heffalumps, and the woozles into its dark and twisted narrative.

This sequel is a part of an ambitious cinematic universe that reimagines children’s stories as horror tales. Alongside “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” and its first sequel, the universe includes films such as “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare”, “Bambi: The Reckoning,” and “Pinocchio Unstrung”. These movies are set to converge in the crossover event “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble,” slated for a 2025 release.

Winnie the Pooh Poohniverse

The creation of these films was made possible when A.A. Milne’s 1926 children’s book “Winnie-the-Pooh” entered the public domain last year, allowing filmmakers to explore these cherished characters in unprecedented ways. Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield and producer Scott Jeffrey Chambers, of Jagged Edge Productions, have led the charge in this innovative endeavor.

The inclusion of Rabbit, heffalumps, and woozles in the upcoming sequel introduces a new layer to the franchise. In Milne’s original stories, heffalumps are imagined creatures resembling elephants, while woozles are known for their weasel-like characteristics and a penchant for stealing honey. Their roles in the narrative remain to be seen, but their addition promises to enrich the horror universe with deeper connections to the source material.
