In case you’re too young to remember, the 1978 film I Spit on Your Grave was writer/director Meir Zarchi’s entry into that decade’s slew of shockers that were born for midnight viewings.

Considered “too shocking” and provocative, the film gained cult status among the artistic crowd and might be considered the world’s second most recognizable entry into rape-and-revenge porn.

The first being Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left which was also controversial six years prior.

It’s been four decades since Zarchi made his film, and almost in the same vein as last year’s Halloween, the final girl returns. This time with her daughter to tie up unexpected loose ends in I Spit on Your Grave Deja Vu.

Here are all the details taken from the official press release with the trailer that follows.

One of the most anticipated sequels of 2019, I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE DEJA VU (ISOYGDV) returns 40 years later from writer/director Meir Zarchi. ISOYGDV shares continuity and characters with his classic 1978’ I Spit On Your Grave.

This explosive film stars Camille Keaton, reprising her iconic role as Jennifer Hills and Jamie Bernadette as her daughter Christy Hills.  Executive Producers: Meir Zarchi & Deja Vu LLC. Produced by Terry Zarchi and Jan O’Connell.

Newer audiences may know the film in its reboot form. A remake was made in 2010 with two sequels following.

Although those films were popular on streaming and paid cable formats, the original remains one of those classics horror fans place high on their list of favorites.
