Horror Streaming This Month

Published

on

Every week we here at iHorror update you on what Netflix is adding to their line-up of horror movies and T.V. shows, leaving out other streaming services. Well, this week we dive into three of the other major streaming services to see what they have to offer you:

HBO GO: Fun fact: HBO GO is not just for watching Game of Thrones! HBO GO is awesome for having all their great original content, but at the moment they are lacking in the horror department. HBO might not have the biggest selection of horror movies, luckily though they do have a few great titles like Twilight Zone: The Movie! Where directors Stephen Spielberg, George Miller, Joe Dante, and John Landis remake some of the best stories from the original series. Like most anthology films it is a bit hit or miss, but it is still a fun time.

If you are looking for something more Lovecraftian than check out John Carpenter’s super underrated In the Mouth of Madness. Starring Sam Neil on the hunt to track down a famous author gone missing, In the Mouth of Madness is one of the best Lovecraft inspired films of the 90’s.

In the mood for some horror comedy where you can sing along with the characters? Right now Little Shop of Horrors and Young Frankenstein are ready for streaming.

Also available are Halloween H20, Prowl, Session 9, The Shining, Queen of the Damned, Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Hulu Plus

Hulu Plus: Hulu Plus is known mostly for watching TV shows, but it has a pretty decent movie collection as well. Much like Netflix you will have to dig through a lot of not so good titles, basically like digging through the cheap DVD bin at a gas station. The great thing about having a Hulu Plus account though, is having access to The Criterion Collection’s vast library of classic titles including David Cronenberg films like The BroodScanners (1-3), Peeping Tom, and Guillermo Del Toro’s Cronos. This include titles they have the rights to but haven’t released on video yet.

Wait. I can use Hulu for more than just watching Empire?

Wait. I can use Hulu for more than just watching Empire?

If Criterion Collection is a bit too classy for your taste Hulu also has access to most of Full Moon’s catalogue including the Gingerbread ManEvil Bong, and Puppet Master films. Not sure how much longer these titles will be on Hulu due to full moon launching their own streaming services, so enjoy them while you can.

Also our favorite hostess with the mostess Elvira is at home with many of her hosted titles available to stream anytime. Everything from classic hosting episode to her recent 13 Nights with Elvira show where she hosts mostly Full Moon movies.

Like your class more sleaze than cheese? Lucky for you Hulu has access to some of Blue Underground titles including Maniac Cop (1 & 2) and The Blind Dead series. Blue Underground also made a deal with Full Moon so that they will be able to streaming over 50 of their titles soon on their streaming service. I am not sure if this will affect Hulu having their titles so enjoy them while you can!

Also available on Hulu Plus are The Decent 1 & 2, Candyman, Ginger Snaps 1-3, The Collector, 2001 Maniacs, The Blob, Cannibal Holocaust, The Eye (original and remake), Frankenhooker, Swamp Thing, C.H.U.D. 1 & 2, Grizzly, The Battery, The Beyond.

Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime: Amazon Prime has been stepping their streaming service game up a lot lately. Between getting past HBO series and documentaries as well as their own original programing they are setting themselves apart from the other services. Amazon also has exclusive streaming rights to A24 films giving them access to films like Tusk, Under the Skin, and Life After Beth.

Amazon also has exclusive streaming right to NBC’s Hannibal, which if you aren’t watching that show then you are missing out. Big time.

How can you say no to this face?

How can you say no to this face?

If you are looking for horror titles closer to the early years of cinema then lucky for you Amazon has access to Kino Lorber films including The Cat and the CanaryNosferatu (The restored Kino edition), The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (restored Kino edition), and Kingdom of Shadows. Not only are these are the beautifully restored versions of these films, but these titles prove that age doesn’t matter because older horror films are still scary.

They also have a bunch of titles from Redemption which offers such classics as Virgin WitchRequiem for a VampireThe Living Dead Girl, Killer’s Moon, and The Grapes of Death. Which is pretty sweet they have access to some of their titles because Redemption Dvds and Blus sometimes run for a pretty penny or two.

Also included with an Amazon Prime account is Woman In Black, Dead Zone, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, the original My Bloody ValentineTerror At London BridgeThe Hills Have Eyes Part 2Day of the Nightmare, Phantoms, and I Bury the Living.

So whether you are bored with Netflix’s selections, don’t have a Netflix account, or just got your friend’s account info for one of these other services, we hope this helped you find something new to watch or a classic to revisit. What is your go-to streaming site?

Part Concert, Part Horror Movie M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Trap’ Trailer Released

Published

on

In true Shyamalan form, he sets his film Trap inside a social situation where we aren’t sure what is going on. Hopefully, there is a twist at the end. Furthermore, we hope it’s better than the one in his divisive 2021 movie Old.

The trailer seemingly gives away a lot, but, as in the past, you can’t rely on his trailers because they are often red herrings and you are being gaslit to think a certain way. For instance, his movie Knock at the Cabin was completely different than what the trailer implied and if you hadn’t read the book on which the film is based it was still like going in blind.

The plot for Trap is being dubbed an “experience” and we aren’t quite sure what that means. If we were to guess based on the trailer, it’s a concert movie wrapped around a horror mystery. There are original songs performed by Saleka, who plays Lady Raven, a kind of Taylor Swift/Lady Gaga hybrid. They have even set up a Lady Raven website to further the illusion.

Here is the fresh trailer:

According to the synopsis, a father takes his daughter to one of Lady Raven’s jam-packed concerts, “where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.”

Written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, Trap stars Josh Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills and Allison Pill. The film is produced by Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock and M. Night Shyamalan. The executive producer is Steven Schneider.

Woman Brings Corpse Into Bank To Sign Loan Papers

Published

on

Warning: This is a disturbing story.

You have to be pretty desperate for money to do what this Brazilian woman did at the bank to get a loan. She wheeled in a fresh corpse to endorse the contract and she seemingly thought the bank employees wouldn’t notice. They did.

This weird and disturbing story comes via ScreenGeek an entertainment digital publication. They write that a woman identified as Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes pushed a man she identified as her uncle into the bank pleading with him to sign loan papers for $3,400.

If you’re squeamish or easily triggered, be aware that the video captured of the situation is disturbing.

Latin America’s largest commercial network, TV Globo, reported on the crime, and according to ScreenGeek this is what Nunes says in Portuguese during the attempted transaction.

“Uncle, are you paying attention? You must sign [the loan contract]. If you don’t sign, there’s no way, as I cannot sign on your behalf!”

She then adds: “Sign so you can spare me further headaches; I can’t bear it any longer.”

At first we thought this might be a hoax, but according to Brazilian police, the uncle, 68-year-old Paulo Roberto Braga had passed away earlier that day.

“She attempted to feign his signature for the loan. He entered the bank already deceased,” Police Chief Fábio Luiz said in an interview with TV Globo. “Our priority is to continue investigating to identify other family members and gather more information regarding this loan.”

If convicted Nunes could be facing jail time on charges of fraud, embezzlement, and desecration of a corpse.
