HexFest, an international “witch festival,” has set its 2020 dates and announced its location in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Presented by Brian Cain, Christian Day, and the Witches of New Orleans coven, HexFest will take place on the weekend of August 7-9, 2020 at the reportedly haunted Bourbon Orleans Hotel. This the first weekend after the pagan festival of Lughnasadh, the first of three harvest festivals that take place in the second half of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
The weekend will kick off with a Riverboat Ritual on the Creole Queen riverboat which will take visitors down the Mississippi River in style with a lavish buffet and drinks before a ritual and drumming circle which will take place on the riverboat’s covered deck.
Beginning Saturday through Sunday, guests will gather at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel where they can shop with various international vendors and attend workshops covering a variety of topics from tarot to Scottish Fairy Lore to Afro-Caribbean magic and rootwork.
Guests can also take part in walking tours on Saturday night or they can attending a voodoo drumming ritual.
The Bourbon Orleans Hotel was once a convent and orphanage, and to this day, there have been reports of the spirits of various nuns and children in the halls of the hotel. There have also been sightings of a Confederate soldier and apparitions of various men and women have been spotted dancing in the ballroom.
Registration for HexFest is open right now with only 300 spots available for the weekend’s festivities. Cost for the festival is $350 not including airfare or rooms, which will have to be booked separately.
