It seems everyone is looking for the next big horror reboot, so it was only a matter of time before Clive Barker’s Hellraiser got a big deal pitch.

Deadline reports that the heavy hitters behind It and Ready Player One have realized the potential of a franchise featuring the Cenobite hellpriest Pinhead as the next big resurrected horror franchise monster and want to bring it to fans.

Producers Roy Lee and Dan Farah are joining forces with Hellraiser TV rights owners Lawrence Kuppin, David Salzman and Eric Gardner.

As it stands the property is only in the earliest of development stages. In fact, the direction as to whether the show will be an anthology or a fully developed series is still in question.

Reportedly, the show would take Barker’s The Hellbound Heart and elements of the movie franchise as inspiration.

No showrunner has been hired as of yet, and whether or not Hellraiser will be on a network schedule or stream through a media service is undetermined.

This would be the first time an original Hellraiser concept would get a television deal.

Last year Hellraiser: Judgment went straight to DVD with mixed reviews.

There was talk about a remake of the original being made in 2006 with Clive Barker himself coming on board to write the screenplay. But that idea was apparently scrapped by Dimension Films.

The movie rights are under lock-and-key at Spyglass, and they are not a part of this new television project according to Deadline.
