Comic book and horror fans everywhere rejoiced at the news of a trailer for the Hellboy reboot dropping this Thursday. But it appears that Christmas has arrived a day early, as the official trailer was leaked on the film’s Twitter account earlier today.
When plans for a third film from the original duo who brought the devilish superhero to the screen fell through, many fans feared that no one would be able to fill the rather large shoes left behind by Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman. But Hellboy creator Mike Mignola was willing to give the big screen another go at his beloved anti-hero.
Starring David Harbour (Stranger Things) and Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) in a brand new vision of the popular graphic novel, Hellboy finds himself caught between both the human and supernatural realms, in a battle against an ancient sorceress determined to exact her revenge.
While del Toro’s films may have brought more color and mysticism to the character, director Neil Marshall (The Descent) is likely to bring a bit of a darker and possibly gorier vision. The trailer does show a few lighter and humorous moments, with a glimpse at some of the various creatures and the villainous Blood Queen, Nimue (Jovovich).
Hellboy is set to release on April 12, 2019. Be sure to follow us for more news and updates on everything horror related.
