Be careful though, there’s course language in the trailer below.
Director Neil Marshall’s re-imagining of the origin story has drawn some criticisms from fandom halls, but his track record with films such as The Descent and Dog Soldiers shows he can pull his own weight in the genre.
He’s also rumored to be taking on another over-sized monster in Skull Island: Blood of the Kong a prequel which takes place in the time of pirates.
For now though, here’s the synopsis of Hellboy (2019):
Hellboy is back, and he’s on fire. From the pages of Mike Mignola’s seminal work, this action-packed story sees the legendary half-demon superhero (David Harbour, “Stranger Things”) called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants.
There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich, Resident Evil series), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.
