August 24th was a sad day in my household, as a longtime Sunday night viewing tradition officially came to an end. After eight years, HBO’s True Blood wrapped up its seventh and final season on that night, and though the finale and the season as a whole were a bit disappointing, my life nevertheless feels a little less fun without those whacky characters in it.
Just over a week after the end, HBO announced today that both the seventh season and the entire series are already headed to home video, sending out a press release detailing the plan. Press releases are admittedly pretty boring to read, not to mention long-winded, so we’ll summarize in a nutshell.
On September 22nd, the entire seventh season will be put up for grabs on digital HD, impressively less than one month after the final episode aired. Those who want a physical copy of the final season will have to wait until November 11th, when it hits both DVD and Blu-ray.
In addition to the release of Season 7, the entire series also comes to DVD and Blu-ray on the same date, including all 80 episodes and all the bonus feature from each individual season release. Spanning 33 discs, the Complete Series Blu-ray collection is priced at $209.99, with the DVD set selling for $174.99.
Below you’ll find a full listing of the Season 7 special features, which will of course be included in the Complete Series set.
