Netflix’s surprise hit The Haunting of Hill House will wrap shooting its second season, The Haunting of Bly Manor, next week. ComicBook.com sat down with star Oliver Jackson-Cohen to discuss the upcoming season.
The actor only had good things to say, calling it “phenomenal”, even better than the first.
During the interview, Jackson-Cohen said:
“I feel like there’s a sniper from Netflix, I have to be so careful about what I say … It’s truly kind of phenomenal what Mike’s done with the second season. It’s weird, because I think the first one, we were so, not shocked, but it was overwhelming how well it was received and, globally, how massive it became. And so how do you approach a second season and make it just as good, if not better? And Mike’s kind of done it. I go back up in about 20 minutes back to Vancouver to continue and we wrap next week so it will be out by the end of the year. I really, really hope people like it.”
He’s talking about Mike Flanagan of course, who not only brought us Hill House, but both Gerald’s Game and Hush – two other sleeper hits that were released on Netflix.
Bly Manor will take place at the house in Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw, which is yet another literary classic. Numerous cast members from the first season, including the aforementioned Jackson-Cohen, will return alongside a slew of new faces.
The Hill House sequel is expected to premiere sometime in 2020, though no official release date has been confirmed.
