Guy Pearce (Ravenous) is set to star in The Seventh Day, a new horror film from writer, director Justin P. Lange (The Dark).
The film which Deadline describes as “Training Day meets The Exorcist” follows a veteran exorcist who teams with a young priest on his first day of training. Soon, their own demons begin to emerge as they are repeatedly tested in the never ending battle between good and evil.
Cinestate and Fangoria will produce the film.
This is Lange’s second feature film. He previously directed The Dark, the story of a boy who befriends the ghost of a girl who lives in the forest near his home.
Pearce made his way onto film and television in Australian making a splash in films like The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Snowy River: The McGregor Saga. The actor later rose to fame in the U.S. when he took on the role of Ed Exley in L.A. Confidential.
Since that time, he’s made numerous stops in the genre filmmaking world starring in the Ravenous as well as the mind-bending Memento and the remake of Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.
It will definitely be interesting to see him back in the horror game working with Lange on The Seventh Day.
There is no word yet on when production will begin or a release date for the film. iHorror will keep you posted as details become available.
