It’s hard to believe that it took so many decades for R.L. Stine’s beloved Goosebumps books to make the leap to the big screen, and the long-awaited feature film finally arrives in theaters on October 16th. We simply cannot wait for this one, as it looks to be an all-out monster mash of awesome.
In advance of the release, Los Angeles’ Silent Movie Theatre is celebrating Goosebumps with a weekend-long tribute to the world and work of R.L. Stine. Appropriately dubbed ‘Things That Goosebump in the Night,’ the fun kicks off on Friday, October 2nd and runs through the following night.
The highlight of Night One is a sneak preview screening of the Goosebumps feature film, with both director Rob Letterman and star Jack Black appearing in person and giving attendees the chance to watch the film weeks before the rest of the country. The screening is free, on a first come-first serve basis.
On Saturday night, a special all-night slumber party is being held, and the theater encourages you to come in your pajamas and watch along as they show off their favorite episodes of the 90s Goosebumps TV series. The party includes snacks like pizza, ice cream, and of course, gummy worms.
As if all that wasn’t fun enough, Goosebumps cover artist Tim Jacobus will be on hand both nights, showing off a gallery of his original artwork. A silent auction will be held, giving you a chance to nab some of the art. There will also be a ‘Say Cheese and Die’ photo booth in the building, along with other treats.
