Goosebumps 2 has been pushed back from a September 21st release date by Sony. The good news? It’s only being pushed back by around three weeks.
Sony has decided to release it instead on October 12th, 2018, making it closer to Halloween for one thing, and avoiding conflict with another Jack Black flick called The House With a Clock in Its Walls. This film will be released September 21st instead.
While this news isn’t exactly world-shattering, it’s better than what the alternative could be. In the past, we’ve seen movies pushed back months, or even worse, years – and sometimes nearly shelved completely, such as in the case of the newest Amityville film.
Though from what I’ve heard, that could have been a blessing in disguise.
In any case, an October release date is much more appealing for just about any fan of horror. Even if the film bombs – which we aren’t expecting it to – it’s always fun to make a trip out to the ol’ cinema when the leaves have begun to fall and the spooky season is in full swing. If anything, this will help the movie do better in the long run.
We’ll keep you updated as we learn of new photos, trailers, or clips for Goosebumps 2. Thanks to Deadline for the tip.
To recap, details about the sequel have been conflicting as of late, with some toting the tagline as Horrorland, with other sources reporting that it will now be titled Goosebumps 2: Slappy’s Revenge. Whether this is speculation or fact, we cannot confirm at this time.
Jack Black is currently set to return, reprising his role as Goosebumps author R.L. Stine.
