With limited categories to choose from, The Golden Globes is forced to lump a years’ worth of TV and film into three: Drama, Comedy and Musical; the latter two combined into one.

The good news is horror made its way into both in 2017 as the Golden Globe nominations were announced early Monday morning.

This year Guillermo del Toro was highly recognized for monster flick The Shape of Water, garnering seven nods, including Best Picture, Best Director and Screenplay.

The answer to which genre the industry felt Get Out belonged to was answered, that film getting a nom in the Best Musical or Comedy category.  The Globes also gave a nod to Daniel Kaluuya for Best Actor in that film.

On the small screen Stranger Things went to the head of its class with two nominations: Best Television Series (drama) and Best Actor in a supporting Role for David Harbour.
