The larger-than-life trailer for director Michael Dougherty’s (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus) Godzilla: King of the Monsters caused a whirlwind at SDCC this weekend. The first-look was filled with epic battles reminiscent of ancient lore, and now we have artwork immortalizing it. Artist Christopher Shy was tapped to depict the clash of the titans with a mythic poster that looks like the thing of legend.
The poster shows Godzilla going head-to-head…to-head-to-head with none other than the monstrous King Ghidorah! The two titans are engulfed in clouds and chaos, as they do battle over a trembling city. Rodan and Mothra will also be joining the massive skirmish in the film. Shy shared the artwork on his company Studio Ronin’s Facebook page following the SDCC debut.
Check out the incredible poster below:
If you’re unfamiliar with Shy’s work, he has extensive experience in the horror, sci-fi, and fantasy genres. In addition to writing and illustrating his own original graphic novels, Shy has created moody concept art for the Friday the 13th 2009 remake, illustrated two Dead Space graphic novels, and done his own take on posters for numerous horror films (which you can purchase at his website). His high-quality fine art prints are something every horror collector would love adorning their walls.
