Glen Mazzara to write The Shining prequel movie, The Overlook Hotel

It was a shock to us here at to hear about Glen Mazzara leaving The Walking Dead.  I mean, it was at the peak of it’s ratings – usually a time for accolades and perhaps a nice bonus check.  It’s been revealed through interviews that Glen and AMC parted ways due to “creative differences”.  Many speculate these differences were directly with the show’s graphic novel creator Robert Kirkman.

Non the less, Glen has moved on to his next project – penning the prequel script to The Shining titled The Overlook Hotel.  “The Overlook Hotel,” currently in development by Warner Bros., would focus on the grisly murders at the haunted hotel long before the arrival of Jack Torrance (played by Jack Nicholson in the 1980 horror movie classic).

I don’t know about you – but I’m definitely ready to learn the story on those creepy twins in the hallway.  This news comes in addition to the news that King has completed his sequel to The Shining, which is titled Doctor Sleep and follows Danny Torrance’s adult life after losing his father and leaving the Overlook Hotel.
