The acclaimed 2010 thriller Monsters, which put writer-director Gareth Edwards on the map and wrote his ticket to the big leagues for this year’s Godzilla, dealt with the aftermath of giant invading aliens on a small scale. Its sequel, Monsters: Dark Continent, aims to increase the scale by setting the action in the Middle East, where soldiers are deployed to fight the behemoths.
As expected, Gareth Edwards sits this one out. The film was written by Jay Basu and directed by Tom Green (not that Tom Green). The film is set to be released in the UK November 2014, with a U.S. release expected soon after. Check out the latest trailer below. Fans of the first film: What do you think? Do you like the bigger scale, or would you prefer a more intimate setting like the first film?
