‘Ghostbusters’ Returning to Theaters for 35th Anniversary

by Michael Carpenter

Is Ghostbusters horror? Nah, probably not, at least not in the traditional sense, although there are certainly some genuinely creepy moments in the franchise. But as far as comedies that incorporate the supernatural, few are even in its league.

The 1984 classic introduced the world to the titular team, played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson. They would return for 1989’s Ghostbusters II, but unfortunately, most people aren’t madly in love with that film like I am.

For those who might’ve never seen Ghostbusters in a theater – or those who just want to experience it again – Fathom Events is giving you two chances to do so. The first is on Sunday, October 6th, and the second is on Thursday, October 10th.

Ghostbusters will be screening in over 600 theaters nationwide, check Fathom’s website to see where it’s happening near you. To sweeten the deal, the film will be introduced by members of the cast, and preceded by rarely seen alternate footage.

2019 is of course Ghostbusters’ 35th anniversary, so what better time to go check it out in the best possible quality. I know I plan to, as it’s one of my all-time favorites. Decades may pass, but time is but a window, and Ghostbusters will never die.
